5 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari

5 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari

The 5 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari brings together the kind of experiences that make a safari in Uganda worth taking: open savannah, forest edges, wildlife filled landscapes and time spent out in the parks looking for animals in their natural surroundings.

This journey is for travellers who want more than a quick stop at one park. Over five days, you have time to leave the city behind, explore Uganda’s countryside and spend proper time on safari, with opportunities for game drives, scenic views and a closer look at the landscapes that support some of Uganda’s best known wildlife.

From the first drive into the countryside to your final return journey, the safari is about being out in the landscape and seeing Uganda beyond the usual tourist route.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park

Your 5 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari begins in Kampala with a drive towards western Uganda and Lake Mburo National Park. As you leave the city, the journey takes you through Uganda’s countryside, passing local communities, farms and changing landscapes before you reach the park.

On arrival in the Lake Mburo area, continue into the park for your first opportunity to experience Uganda’s wildlife. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy an afternoon game drive across the savannah and woodland, where you may encounter zebras, impalas, buffaloes, warthogs and other wildlife. The drive also gives you your first introduction to the natural environment of the park before continuing the safari the following day.

Continue your 5 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari with a morning wildlife experience in Lake Mburo National Park. The cooler morning hours provide a good opportunity to explore the park again, look for wildlife and enjoy the changing views across the grasslands, woodland and wetland areas.

After leaving Lake Mburo, continue your journey towards Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. The route passes through rural communities and changing countryside as you travel deeper into the region. On arrival in the Queen Elizabeth area, you can spend the remaining part of the day relaxing or exploring the surroundings, depending on the timing of your arrival.

Today is dedicated to exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park through a longer wildlife game drive. Set out into the park and follow the different tracks across the savannah as you search for elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, lions and other wildlife that may be encountered along the way.

Your time in the park is also about appreciating the landscape itself, with open grasslands, woodland, wetlands and distant views creating a constantly changing safari setting. Take time to enjoy wildlife sightings as they happen before returning from the day’s exploration and preparing for another experience in the park.

Spend the fourth day discovering another side of Queen Elizabeth National Park with a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. The cruise takes you between Lake Edward and Lake George, giving you a different view of the park and its wildlife as you travel along the water.

Keep watch along the shoreline for hippos, crocodiles, elephants and other animals that gather around the channel, while the surrounding wetlands provide opportunities for bird watching. After the boat safari, continue with another wildlife drive or spend time exploring the area, depending on the day’s schedule and your interests.

Make the most of your final morning in Uganda’s wildlife country with another game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The early part of the day gives you one final opportunity to explore the park, search for wildlife and enjoy the scenery before beginning your journey back to Kampala.

After leaving the park, travel through western Uganda and continue towards Kampala, with time to take in the countryside along the route. Your 5 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari comes to an end in Kampala after five days of wildlife viewing, scenic travel and experiences across two of Uganda’s important safari destinations.
